Age 76, of Jackson, passed away at his home under the loving care of his family and Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice. Al is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Judy K. (Rupert) Licking; three children, Sharron (Doug) Padgett of Dayton, TN, Timothy (Renee) Licking of Jackson and Marie (Scott) Ruppel of Fowler, IN; seven grandchildren, Kevin, Michael and Ryan Padgett, Amy and Tyler Licking, Joshua and Brandon Ruppel; brother, Bill (Diane) Licking; Judy’s siblings; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Evelyn Licking; father and mother-in-law, LeRoy and Viola Rupert; brothers, Dave and Rich. Al was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during Vietnam; worked at Clark Equipment and retired from Symmetry Medical. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf and bowling; mostly he cherished time with his family and friends. A service to celebrate Al’s life will be held at First United Methodist Church, 275 W. Michigan Ave., Jackson, MI 49201 on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 10:30 am with Reverend Dr. Eric Beck officiating. Military honors will be offered by the Jackson County American Legion Ritual Team. Interment Roseland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm.
