Age 54, of Jackson, passed away with her loved ones at her side at Michigan Medicine – Ann Arbor on Friday, October 4, 2019. Dawn is survived by her dearly beloved family, her siblings and their families, sister, Bobbie Leigh-Myers; sister, Karen (Ed) Swartz and children, (Heather (Chuck), kids, Hayden and Alexis), (Kirk, kids, Ethan and Isabelle); brother Tom’s children, Monica, (Steven (Kristi), kids, Hunter and Drew); sister, Nel Swihart and son, (Rob (MaryGail), kids, Jake and Rafe); brother, Rick (Christy) and children, Taylor and Cassidy; brother, Chris and children, Sara and Andrew; brother, Alva (Kelly) and children, Cameron, Jeffrey, Ethan and Tyla; niece, Tracy and children, Zaccari and December; niece, Rachel and children, Rob and Jared; nephew, Justin and nephew, Joshua; her God son, Andrew Damon; cousins and extended family. She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Dorothy (Ed) Ball; father, Raymond Myers and brother, Tom Austin. Dawn attended Jackson and Northwest High Schools before enlisting in the U.S. Army at 17 years old. She loved her country and had a career of over 22 years in the military working in logistics. After leaving the military, Dawn completed her Associate’s and Bachelor’s Degrees at Baker College. Dawn had such a positive and uplifting spirit that anyone who met her felt themselves a better person because of knowing her. She gave of herself, even when she felt she had nothing to give. Over the years, soldiers that worked with her continued to keep in contact, Dawn had that type of affect on them. She loved working in the Wilkins Gardens; working with wood; playing bingo at Eagles #612 in Jackson; and dearly loved her pets. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Dawn’s beautiful life will be held at Salem United Church of Christ, 113 W. Pine St., Albion, MI 49224 on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 3:00 pm with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. Pastor Loree Grinnell will officiate the services.
