Age 74, of Napoleon Township, passed away August 21, 2019 at Henry Ford Allegiance Health. He is survived by his wife of 52 years; Marlene J. (maiden-Boyce) Jehnzen, two children; Richard (Amy) Jehnzen and Nichola (Kip) Jonas, nine grandchildren; Ricci, Eden, Hope, Jordan, Nolan, Amelia, Shanda, Alex and Kari, ten great-grandchildren with three more coming soon, sister; Marilyn (Jerry) Rockwell, brothers; Myron Jehnzen and Dennis (Patty) Butler, several nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved canine companion; Daisy. He was preceded in death by his daughter: Tammy Strickrodt and his parents; Myron and Margaret (maiden-Woodall) Jehnzen. At his request cremation has taken place. Gerald served the nation during the Vietnam Era, stationed four years in Germany with the US Air Force, he owned and operated Paul E. Bengel Company in Jackson for many years, enjoyed scuba diving, mountain climbing, downhill skiing, and held a private airplane pilots license. He was a volunteer reader at Jackson Public Schools, a longtime member and former Board Member of the Jackson YMCA and also attended the First Church of the Nazarene (3905 Clinton Way, Jackson, Michigan) where a Memorial Service to celebrate and honor his life will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at noon with Pastor James I. Haldane officiating. The family will receive friends at the church that morning from 11 am until service time. Military honors will be offered by the Jackson County American Legion Ritual Team. The family would appreciate any donations in his memory be given to the Church.
