Age 92, lifelong resident of Ackerson Lake, passed away at Victorian Villa Assisted Living under the loving care of family, Victorian staff and wonderful staff of Careline Hospice. Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Jeanetta; four children, Jack (Janine) Hatt Jr., Denis Hatt, Daryl (Sue) Hatt and Julie Hatt (Jim); two grandchildren, Jack III and Shanna; sister-in-law, Mary Berkeypile; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Hazel (Stetler) Hatt; siblings, Charles Hatt and Marian Jensen. Jack grew up on the family farm, went to Napoleon Schools; at 18 went on to serve in the U.S. Navy and returning home to then marry the former Jeanetta Berkeypile. As a devoted husband and father, Jack supported his family by working over 30 years with Farmer Peet Packing. He had 58 years of dedicated service to the Napoleon Fire Department, taking over the position of Asst. Chief from his father in 1968. Also in 1968, Jack worked the inaugural MIS Fire Crew at the speedway and continued to do so for decades. Throughout his life, he enjoyed farming and caring for the land; supporting his children’s and grandchildren’s school and sporting activities as well as riding his motorcycle and membership in the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. A service to celebrate Jack’s life will be held at Arthur-Day Funeral Home on Friday, June 21, 2019 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Roseland Memorial Gardens with military honors by the Brooklyn American Legion Post #315 Honor Guard.
