Age 96, a long time resident of Napoleon, passed away at the Jacqueline House in Cement City on May 21, 2019 under the care of the staff and Great Lakes Caring Hospice. Pearle was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years; Frank Barrus, son James Barrus and sister Mary Hooper. She is survived by her sons; Brian (Lisa) Barrus, Steven (Jean) Barrus and Bradley Barrus, twelve grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren. She was born April 9, 1923 in Redford, Michigan to Lyle and Ethel (maiden-Long) Kennedy and graduated from Napoleon High School in 1941. She was known as an avid bowler, loved spending time in her flower garden, and was an eagle-eyed card player. She particularly loved a round of “Oh Shaw” with her family members, especially if she could beat them. She joined the Napoleon United Methodist Church at the age of 13 and was a loyal and dedicated member ever since. During this time she served many years as the children and adult choir director as well as singing with the choir. Pearle will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Her family wants to thank her neighbors, Rod and Jan Brundage for aiding and assisting mom and making it possible for her to stay in her home for many extended years and also the staff at Jacqueline House for their wonderful care. Services will be held at the Napoleon United Methodist Church Friday, May 24, 2019 at 11 am with Rev. Terry Wiliford officiating. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery in Napoleon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening 5-8 pm and at the church one hour prior to service time. Due to her love of the church, Memorial Contributions to the NUMC would be appreciated.
