Age 91, of Ackerson Lake, passed away surrounded by loved ones at her home on Thursday, January 20, 2021, under the loving care of her family and the staff of Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice, especially Joy. She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Ashley on March 20, 2013; daughter-in-law, Janet Ashley and brother, David Hudson. Betty leaves behind her beloved family; three sons, Dennis (Deb) Ashley, Tim Ashley and Kevin Ashley; eight grandchildren, Jeff Ashley (Tracy Gray), Chad Ashley, Kevin (Brooke) Ashley Jr, Steffany Ashley, Ryan (Holly) Ashley, Sarah Ashley, David Ashley and Jill (David) White; ten great-grandchildren, Samantha, Jordan, Seth, Emma, Maizy, McKenna, Sofie, Mathus, Winnie and Beatrice. Growing up in Detroit, Betty did modeling in the 1940’s for the Ford Motor Company and Coca-Cola. She worked at Ashley’s Cafeteria where she met Jim and they were married in 1948. She was an avid card player and participated in many card clubs. For nearly 40 years, she has enjoyed living at Ackerson Lake, feeding the birds and turtles, truly enjoying life with family and friends around the lake. Betty was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Michigan Center. A memorial mass at church and celebration of life gathering will be held later this year when health guidelines allow, details will be announced at that time.
