Elizabeth Ann (Delbridge) Archer

February 17, 1939 ~ May 6, 2022 (age 83)

Aged 83, of Michigan Center, passed away Friday, May 6, 2022 at the Living Joy Assisted Living in Flushing, MI after a years-long battle with vascular dementia.  “Liz” was born in Byron, Michigan on Friday, February 17, 1939 to the late Ross H. and Emma A. (Scott) Delbridge. She graduated from Byron High School in 1957 and was married later that year, on August 10, to Carroll V. Archer. Liz and Carroll met at a donkey basketball game. They had two children, Tammy Williamson and Dwayne Archer; three grandchildren, Melanie Pietroytys, Danielle Dore and Cole Cates; three great-grandchildren, Kodi Solders, Anthony Pietroytys and Brandon Pietroytys; and two great-great-grandchildren, Gatlin Solders and Tanner Pietroytys.

Liz was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and a true matriarch of her family. For many years, much of her family all lived along the same lane, and those close quarters led to close bonds. She loved her family fiercely, looked forward to making them Sunday suppers, and always advocated for their educational and financial success. She was generous, hard-working, and was very active within her churches, Christ Lutheran in Michigan Center and the First Congregational Church in Jackson, singing in and directing the choirs and organizing rummage sales. She worked many years for Clark Equipment and then retired from CP Credit Union after working there for 20 years. She spent much of the last decade in Flushing, Michigan, on the “farm” with her second husband, Dick. She enjoyed helping out around the property, doing crafts and sewing, and caring for a family of feral cats.

Elizabeth is survived by her second husband, Richard L. Johnson; her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; three step-children; sister, Darlene Niederhuth of Arizona; many nieces, nephews and extended family.  Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Carroll V. Archer in 2009 and siblings, Diane, Robert, Mary and Lois.

Services will be held at the funeral home Friday, May 13, 2022 at 11 am.  Interment will be at 2:30 pm at Union Plains Cemetery, Byron, Michigan.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday evening 6-8 pm.
