Age 80, of Sandstone Township, passed away at her home Wednesday, January 27, 2021 in the presence of dear friends and under the care of Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice. She is survived by her best friend Pamela Jean Decker, ‘niece’; Donna Trumble and also leaves to mourn a host of friends and former coworkers including Beth Gilbert who was like a daughter to her and Dr. David Prough who was always there for her when needed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Gladys (maiden-DeView) Hetzel; her sister, Kathleen Gonyer and her nephew, Michael Gonyer. Fran was a compassionate and dedicated care worker serving for over 42 years at Henry Ford Allegiance (formerly W. A. Foote and Mercy Hospital) as a Surgery Technician, where she was known to many as mom. She had also worked at Sparrow Hospital’s several outpatient clinics where her skill and talents were appreciated by both the patients and her coworkers. Pam wishes to thank two friends who were of such great help: Sherrie and Mark Combs and also Dr. Malik and his staff for their support and care. With the passing of Frances, an apology is given to the makers of ice cream products which will result in a decline of sales. Fran has been cremated and no services will be held. She was a passionate lover of animals and it was her specific wish that any contributions in her memory be made to Friends of the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 3370 Spring Arbor Road, Jackson, MI 49203. Her friends wish to thank the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice for their compassionate care of Fran in her last days.
