Age 95, of Liberty Township, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 11, 2021 under the care of the staff at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home. Phyllis was born on January 6, 1926 in Liberty Township to Owen and Xema (Ernest) Bernstein. She graduated from Cement City High School in 1944. On September 25, 1948, Phyllis married Robert M. Blossom and he preceded her in death on December 13, 1993 after 45 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert (Maurine) Bernstein.
Phyllis is survived by two daughters, Helen (Steve) Welsh of Portage, MI and Ruth (John) Rothfuss of Brooklyn, MI; three grandchildren, Amy (Jacob) Boyd, Scott (Jeanette) Rothfuss and Joseph (Chelsea) Rothfuss; six step-grandchildren, Jacque Welsh, Stephen Welsh, Amanda Welsh, Joshua Welsh, Aaron (Geneva) Welsh and Matthew (Cora) Welsh; seven great-grandchildren, Nolan Hough, Boden Boyd, Nathan Rothfuss, Ryalee Rothfuss, Hunter Simon, River Rothfuss and Milo Rothfuss; nine step-great-grandchildren, Autumn Hughes, Danielle Hughes, Chaise Welsh, Andrew Hodges, Hanna Hodges, Jamie Snyder, Tai Welsh, Gia Welsh and Damon Welsh; several nieces and nephews.
Phyllis worked at Smith Winchester and at the Liberty General Store as well as being a homemaker, wife, mom and grandmother, the occupations she liked most. She was a member of the Horton Congregational Church, Past Worthy Matron and Life Member of the former Bell Chapter #164 Order of the Eastern Star and present member of Fern Leaf Chapter #66 O.E.S. and life member of the D.A.V. Auxiliary Wolverine State #33.
A public visitation with Covid mandates in place will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, January 17, 2021 from 2 to 4 pm. A private family service of remembrance will be held at the funeral home on Monday with Pastor Chris Murphy from the Horton Congregational Church officiating. Interment will follow at East Liberty Cemetery.
