Age 81, of Jackson, passed away at Henry Ford Allegiance Health on Friday, April 17, 2020. Rex was born in Leoni Township on January 18, 1939, the only son of Adrien Leroy and Inez Irene (Burch) Pitts. He is survived by his beloved wife of 15 years and companion for the last 27 years, Patty M. Pitts; his dear family of seven children, Violet Boyer, Sharon Pitts, Rex Jr. “Chugger” Pitts, Judy (Don) Fisher, Kathy Budd, Corey Vaughn and Tiffany Peterson; many adored grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Claudia Pitts, Paula (David) Smith, Adrienee Lynn Amos and Mary (Don) Fraser; special nephews, Doug (Debbie) Clark, David Clark and Donnie Clark; many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends; last but not least, his dear canine companion, Angel. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Clark in 2019. Rex had a career that he truly enjoyed, that of a semi truck driver hauling freight for 43 years. Over the years he did both local and over the road trucking, Rex drove in 48 of our 50 states, only missing out on freight delivery to Alaska and Hawaii. He could often times be seen in his semi tractor chewing on his Swisher Sweets; his CB name was the “Cigar Man”. He was a loyal fan of NASCAR racing. He was described by many as being a master of words with the gift of gab. More than anything, Rex will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. As was his request, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. For those who wish, contributions may be given in Rex’s memory to his wife Patty for family needs and wishes.
