Russel James Lotter

May 20, 1946 ~ January 4, 2021 (age 74)


Age 74, of Jackson, formerly of Tuscola County, passed away at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit January 4, 2021.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years; Donna Marie (Peterson) Lotter, four children; Jason and Jeremy Lotter, Rayna (Brendan) Miller and Rebecca (Bryan) Nicholas, 12 grandchildren; siblings; Orlin (Linda) Lotter, Sharon (Aaron) Stanfield, Janice (Harry) Steele and Marilynn Lotter, father-in-law; Rev. Donald Peterson, sisters-in-law; Kris (Bob) Ragain and Ruth (Darrell) Payne, many nieces and nephews, and his special cherished pet; Phoebe. He was preceded in death by his parents; Clifton and Dorothy (Dumaw) Lotter, brother; Donald Lotter and his mother-in-law; Marilee Peterson.  Russel served the nation in the US Army for three years and the Army Reserves after his enlistment, was a retired machine operator from General Motors, retired from the State of Michigan as a bus driver/trainer and was a youth counselor, janitor and landlord.  He enjoyed coaching youth sports, was an avid pen crafter, rock collector, arborist and loved playing games with family and friends.  He had a deep faith in God, with three years of Bible College, active as a tract evangelist and was a passionate collector of medical equipment donated to missions.  Cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Life to honor his memory will be held in Caro at a later date.  His cremains will be interred at Great Lakes National Cemetery.  The family would ask any contributions in his memory be made to Children’s Medical Ministries (PO Box 3382 Crofton, Maryland 21144), Moments With the Book (PO Box 322 Bedford, Pennsylvania 15522) or Turning Point Ministries (PO Box 14317 Scottsdale, Arizona 85267-4317).
