Age 74, of Jackson, passed away April 3, 2022 in Venice, FL. Steve is survived by his wife, Susan; two children. Michelle (Fermen) Mendez and Michael Edstrom, four step-children, Terri (James) Yafai of Brooklyn, MI, Mark (Amy) McCormic of Washington, MI, Sherri McCormic of Jackson, and Colleen (Jose “Chicco”) Valderossa of Tamarac, FL. Also, a grand-son, Holden, eight step-grand-children, Elissa, Travis, Keith, Ashlee, Keaton, Audrey, Garrett and Jase, two step-great-grand-children, Atlas and Everett as well as siblings, Joseph (Jane) Edstrom, Tom (Cheryl) Gravelin, Kathy Denman, Ed (Mary) Pheifer, Victoria Broadway, Roseann Mackenthun, John (Julie) Pheifer, and many nieces and nephews. Born in Golden Valley, MN, graduate of Pine Island High School, earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration Degrees from Mankato State University, MN. Received a Vietnam Service medal with Bronze Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal and a National Defense Service medal while in the Navy. In 1995 he achieved his lifelong dream of becoming a Computer Science Instructor and served as the Department Chair at Baker College in Jackson. Retired in 2007, followed by he and wife Susan enjoying summers in Michigan and winters in Florida. At his request, cremation has taken place with internment planned tat Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI. A Celebration of Life service will be held July 10, 2022 at 1:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to honor him while enjoying a catered luncheon/dinner at Gene Davis and Sons Banquet and Convention Center, 3575 Francis St., Jackson, MI. Steve’s expressed wish was for the time to be uplifting – colorful clothing encouraged.
